High-Tech Hitching: The Latest in RV Technology
Technology has come a long way, with so many available products making our lives simpler. While this is true in day-to-day life, it is also true for the travel life. For the RVers traveling as part-time vacationers, or full-time road warriors, there are plenty of new technologies on the market to make the journey a bit easier. Take a look at some of the latest releases in RV technology.
Internet Connectivity Options
I believe for most RVers, the ability to remain connected to our mobile devices is pretty important. When driving through remote spots or small towns, the availability just might be an option. That’s where game changers in the mobile Internet world come in.
Sage Singleton, director of PR at Clearlink shared some news that can keep connections strong, no matter the location: ‘Mobile internet solutions built with RV road warriors in mind are finally catching up to the speed and reliability of home internet connections. Two solutions, in particular, are game changers when it comes to broadband-speed internet on the road. Starlink Mobile and T-Mobile AWAY.’
Starlink Mobile
Just a few years old, Starlink Mobile provides unlimited data and an easy setup. This means video streaming, game playing and even finishing some remote work can be accomplished. Take it one step further with the Starlink Mini- a device about the same size as a MacBook, that can be used while driving- allowing younger guests to stay occupied during the trip.

T-Mobile
Just in time for late-summer and early-fall travels, T-Mobile has released their answer to Starlink’s products. T-Mobile AWAY is a free-range version of their 5G Home Internet service. With a monthly plan, you can have Internet service in any town or area that T-Mobile offers service. A big advantage to this is the that the phone giant’s coverage maps includes more US highway miles than any other network. The Extended Range 5G network for homes is reported to cover 98% of Americans, so coverage shouldn’t be unreliable in too many places.
It really comes down to how much you are willing to spend to always have reliable Internet service. Between the two options, T-Mobile AWAY is cheaper but reliability is based on how close the cell towers are. Starlink will provide strong connectivity regardless of how remote you might be, but with that comes a stiffer monthly subscription cost and pricey hardware.
Camera Monitoring System
For those traveling with infants or small children, being able to check in on them while traveling has become so much easier thanks to this next technology device; Tiny Traveler Classic.
Whether your child is laughing, crying or sleeping, the power and convenience of Tiny Traveler Classic HD camera and five-inch touchscreen monitor provides plenty of peace of mind while driving. Record or automatically snap a photo or two of your bundle of joy while being the wheel.
This new technology provides constant capabilities of keeping an eye on the kids while keeping an eye on the road. And, as it is portable, when the RV road trip is finished, simply transfer the two-piece device back into the family car, or place the camera in the nursery/toddler’s room and keep the monitor with you at all times. It’s the new, updated version of a baby audio monitor.
For those traveling with the fur babies, this device works well for times the dogs or cats have to remain in the RV while you sit down at a café for lunch or are out sightseeing during a trip. Ensure their safety and well-being by turning the camera on them and sliding the compact monitor in a backpack or purse.
Tire Tech
Staying safe on the road takes planning and monitoring of many different components. Tire safety is one aspect of travel that can be regarded as most important and for that reason, AKTV8 has created the next generation of tire monitoring with a product called PressureTech.
AKTV8
PressureTech is a configurable, pressure-monitoring sensor platform used for suspension pressure, pressure monitoring, onboard scales and many other pneumatic systems on an RV or other vehicle.
The sensor easily screws on the valve stem of any vehicle, the sensors will keep an eye on pressure as well as temp, up to 150 PSI. PressureTech TPMS sensors are available in two options: cap style and inflate-thru style.
The inflate-thru sensors are designed to have air added to the tire without the sensor being removed. Compared to other inflate-thru sensors, PressureTech is designed with lightweight capabilities in mind, with little affect towards tire balance, and is compatible with heavy-truck, RVs, and light-vehicle ATIS systems.
The company has also launched a range extender gateway perfect for trailers. This product will ensure proper connectivity from the sensors in the trailer tires to the mobile app.
Monitor every tire that uses the PressureTech sensor and be made aware of any potential issues before they become a problem. More information on this new product can be found here.
Kitchen Upgrades
Upgrade your RV’s kitchen appliances by downgrading their size. With a smaller workspace, finding products to help and not hinder can be a challenge. Fortunately, these next few highlighted products are mighty in help capabilities while not hogging all the available countertop spaces.
Kenyon City Grill
This isn’t just a typical grill; it is a portable, flameless and smokeless electric grill. Whether using it inside the RV or outside on the picnic table, this grill produces the same flavors as a traditional grill without all the prep work. No matches, wood or lighter fluid needed.
Even though temps can reach 550 degrees Fahrenheit with just a turn on the knob, there is no worry of flare-ups traditional with fire-powered grills.
The grill uses a six-foot, 120V GFCI-protected cord, providing safe and easy connection inside or out.

This cooler is so much more than ‘just a cooler’, as it can serve as a:
Fridge: keeping cold drinks, veggies and fruits chilled

Its compact size allows the portable fridge to easily be stored in a small car trunk, so it won’t take up too much room in the RV, either.
